Division Transfer

Since we have had some accusations in the past that the Georgian division would poach in other divisions, you should know the following:

The Georgian division sees itself as a colorful, international division that is open to all nationalities.

The Georgian division never has and will never actively approach members from other divisions and encourage them to switch to the Georgian division. In particular, the GE Division makes no promises about the possibility of filling staff positions. We as the GE Division act strictly according to IVAO regulations.

Nevertheless, everyone who wants to change is welcome. However, members should be aware that we work according to IVAO rules and that another change is not possible for 12 months.

All staff positions are filled in strict compliance with the IVAO regulations. Even though we would very much like to fill some positions today rather than tomorrow, the 3-month rule is strictly observed and no exception will be requested from the Exec team.

We are an international team and consider ourselves as a family. There are sometimes quarrels in a family too, but we try to resolve things with respect.

It is your sole decision to join our division. Nobody would ever ask or press you to join our division.
If you want to come to us because your friends are already here and they asked you to switch to us as well, this is your private matter that we as staff will not interfere with.

However, it is important for us to maintain a good balance between all nations to avoid becoming an “outstation” Division for another country. Therefore, we need to implement a quota as follows:
We do not accept members from countries if their single population grows more than the number of members from south caucasus countries (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan). For example, if 30% of our members are from south caucasus countries, we do accept up to 30% from another single country. Right now the situation is as follows:

Review from 1.7.2020

From south caucasus countries: 34,8%
Poland: 27,9%
Russia: 20,9%
Germany: 11,6%
Others: 4,6%
Rounding issue: 0,2%

Therefore we can accept transfers from any country. Next review will be done on 1.8.2020

How do I apply for a division change?

Upon initial registration, members will be asked to choose a division that they wish to join. If you would like to be transferred to another division, make sure to choose an active division. We will not execute division transfers to inactive divisions.  A list of all active divisions can be found here: https://www.ivao.aero/Content/About/Divisions.aspx

According to department rule M.3: Division Change request: “A user may once per 12 months request a division transfer, all transfers are subject of approval by the users prospective division and the Membership Department.

Are there any restrictions and limitations?

Yes, there are a couple of restrictions. Before you request the division transfer, make sure to read these points:

  • Be aware, only one division transfer per year is allowed.
  • Contact us only with the e-mail address that you are currently using on your IVAO profile.
  • We will not process any transfer with no VID in the subject line.
  • We will not process any transfers to inactive divisions.
  • We will not process any transfers from suspended members.
  • In case you have a pending exam, please finish it or request the training department to cancel the pending exam.
  • Make sure to use English only, if you are unable to communicate in English, please contact your division staff for assistance.

How to request a division transfer?
A division transfer request is very easy. Make sure to contact your new (desired) division, the old division and to the IVAO HQ Membership Department.

Please follow and execute the following steps:

STEP 1: Send the request to old division: xx-hq@ivao.aero and new division (our GE Division): ge-hq@ivao.aero with CC to members@ivao.aero (in only one mail).

STEP 2: Make sure to add members@ivao.aero as CC (Carbon Copy).

STEP 3: Write in the subject-line the following title: Division transfer *VID*
(make sure to replace *VID* with your own VID!)

STEP 4: Write in your e-mail why you would like to be transferred to another division. The better your motivation is described, the better and sooner a decision can be made.

STEP 5: Check, Check & Double-Check! Nothing is better to double-check everything. This will help us to process your transfer request a lot quicker.

After you have checked everything, you can send your request. We will try to manage your request within 10 days.

Fictional Peter is currently in the German division, but he really wants to join the Mexican division. He is following the step 1 till 5.
